If you are not receiving emails from a specific sender (such as ) or emails from that sender are going direct to your spam folder, you may need to whitelist the sender. Whitelisting flags emails from that sender as "safe", which is useful for you, your team and your clients.
The steps required to whitelist an email sender vary across the most common email platform providers.
- Gmail
- On Desktop:
- Open an email from the sender you want to whitelist.
- Click the three vertical dots (menu)
at the top-right corner of the email.
- Select Filter messages like this.
- In the pop-up, click Create filter.
- Select Never send it to Spam and click Create filter.
- Alternatively:
Add the email address to your Contacts:- Hover over the sender's name in the email.
- Click Add to Contacts

- On Desktop:
- Outlook (Web and Desktop)
- On Web (Outlook.com):
- Go to Settings (gear icon in the top-right corner).
- Select View all Outlook settings.
- Navigate to Mail > Junk Email.
- Under Safe senders and domains, click Add.
- Type the email address or domain you want to whitelist (e.g., example@domain.com).
- Click Save.
- On Desktop (Outlook App):
- Open an email from the sender.
- Right-click on the email in your inbox.
- Hover over Junk and select Never Block Sender or Never Block Sender's Domain.
- On Web (Outlook.com):
- Apple Mail (Mac and iPhone/iPad)
- Add the sender to your Contacts:
- Open an email from the sender.
- Click the sender’s name or email at the top of the email.
- Select Add to Contacts or Add to VIPs.
- On Mac, you can also:
- Open Mail > Preferences from the top menu.
- Go to the Rules tab.
- Create a new rule with conditions to move emails from the sender to the inbox.
- Add the sender to your Contacts:
- Yahoo Mail
- Open an email from the sender you want to whitelist.
- Hover over the sender’s name and click Add to Contacts.
- Fill in the details and click Save.
- Go to Settings > More Settings > Filters, and create a filter to ensure emails from the sender are delivered to your inbox.
- Other email clients or platforms
If your platform isn't listed:
- Look for a Not Spam or Report as Not Spam button when viewing an email in the spam folder.
- Add the email address to your Contacts or Address Book, which typically overrides spam filters.
- Check for specific whitelist options under Settings or Spam/Junk Email settings.
